Ulaanbaatar is the capital of Mongolia, and is a host to many significant historical times. This city used to be considered a nomadic business center. Eventually the Soviet Union gained control of this city, and Soviet-era buildings can still be seen there with its mixture of twenty first century buildings today. This city is home to the only international airport in Mongolia, so unless you plan on entering Mongolia from Russia or China, Ulaanbaatar will be the beginning of your journey through the country.
